Turns out there are worse things than having a date go badly.

Having a date go...I'm not sure how that went.

Also, I would like to say again: there is almost nothing I hate more than writing cover letters.

I'm not sure how that went.

How are you not sure how it went?

What Parrot Knight said, below. (Bear in mind, my experience of actual dating is practically nil.)
I mean, we had a decent conversation over a couple of pots of tea, it was fine, but I'm not even 100% sure if it was meant to be a date in the first place. Or if there's going to be another one. Or if another one would be a good idea, given (among other things) the difficulty of getting a word in edgewise, with her...

That seems like the most important point: regardless of whether the both of you considered it a romantic event or just hanging out, do you want to see the person agan?

I've never had much luck figuring out the whole dating thing, either. The ambiguous type of thing (Schröedinger's Date?) is always particularly strange.

Good luck with the lot.

I think sovay has the right of it; the real question is binary: More hanging out Y/N?

After that, you can deal with such fripperies as what you'll do, where it's going, etc.

True! Well, from my perspective, More hanging out Y!
What SHE thinks of the matter is another question.
Also, she lives in New Jersey, when she's not visiting her parents for Spring Break; so more hanging out will probably not be Soon.

Frustrating! But I do agree with Sovay.
