I don't actually know what proportion of the Castle they're demolishing, but the talk at one point was "Let's get rid of everything but the south wing with the towers." Certainly that's the only bit that isn't being worked on at the moment; and this morning, they took out every tree in the courtyard; the ones along the stairs in the back were cut down last week.

[edit] I knew about the Castle because I was furious; it didn't occur to me the trees were endangered. I have good memories of those trees.

Last summer I stayed in what claimed to be the country's first Green dormitory at Carnegie Mellon. It was one of the most air-conditioned places I have ever stayed in.
