Just to say I´d done it. And because it´s been hot (well, for northern Europe). And there wasn´t a lot else going on: all the American expats seem to have caught World Cup fever, and anyway, anything they did on the "being patriotic" front would be totally drowned out by the hordes of screaming Germans (they play Italy tonight).
I hope Germany wins. Partly ´cause that´s the country I´m in, but also because otherwise the Italians from the restaurant across the street will party til 2 AM, and only stop when they get into a fight with German football hooligans. (No, I haven´t seen any German football hooligans, but if there´s anything that would bring out the hooligan in you, it would be losing the semi-final to Italy.)
PS on swimming: Apparently people in this town, if they´re young and SLIGHTLY reckless, like jumping off the pedestrian bridge into the river. It´s relatively safe (the Rhein´s quite deep), but I don´t think I´d be brave enough to do it sober. And I´m definitely not stupid enough to try it drunk.
Anyway. Back to work. Wh-tish!
