Disconnected thoughts, for reasons that will ebcome clear:
- Apparently, when most of the aromatics from chrism have evaporated, what's left smells kinds like patchouli. So I was glad to wash it off when I got home, but also I felt weird about it. In the Patristic period, you bound a cloth around your head and didn't wash that bit of yourself for a week after getting baptised.
(Obviously I wasn't the one getting baptised this morning, but the monks had extra chrism, so at the end they said "And anyone who wants a [nother] reminder of their baptism can come get chrismed." I...guess it makes sense that that's allowed?)
(If it's not allowed, don't tell the bishop.)
- Am am still alive!
- I'm totally jetlagged in my own time zone
- Because I successfully got myself up at 3:10 AM!
- My Lyft smelled like he'd just hot-boxed it.
- Then o/c the brothers kinda hotboxed their oratory, just with frankincense.
- Their Vigil went SOO HARD.
- Okay, granted we didn'd have The Noble Joseph, or the Easter Homily of St. John Chrysostome, and I've heard the Exsultet sung better. But we started "early on the first day of the week, when it was still dark" and kept going until it was full daylight and ft. a baptism and the litany of the saints and ALL THE CANDLES and ALL THE INCENSE and all the readers were good, and so really anything after that, even if there's been an Easter morning service somewhere with great music and I'd been able to make it to it, it would have been ten-ply.
- We didn't get the quarter peal, but that mostly wasn't my fault.
- Wound up having breakfast with Deacon Daphne, with some great if probably kinda disjointed conversation, because again we'd been up for like fuck five hours at that point and were only just getting coffee.
- Apparently I got "Brother, Give Us A Word: The CCG" as a party favor?
- As you can tell, because I'm running on four hous of sleep and a beer and orobably too much sugar, and have run out of fucks to give about speling or making sense.
- Possibly I need a nap? I can't even tell anymore.
