Dec. 22nd, 2022 03:49 pmPractically bloody noone here in Sheffield is wearing masks. I am HOPING that this is a reflection on a robust and successful pandemic prevention strategy, and not of the whole nation just deciding "Fuck it."
Anyway. Walked around Sheffield a bit today: finally saw the cathedral, and bought some of my brother's laundry list of stuff he'd like from England. And also figured out which things that mom wants to give me I can actually cram into my suitcase. Had venison for dinner (nom).

Nov. 26th, 2022 05:21 pmToday, I planned to get a PCR test.
It turned out to be more complicated than I was expecting, because
a) The back tire on my bike was starting to go flat, which would have been solvable except
b) it turns out that my tire pump is ALSO dead (probably frozen to death.) :(
So I had to drive. And then
c) I'd forgotten that Cataldo's testing site doesn't open til noon on Saturdays, so I had to make the drive TWICE.
(Fortunately, it's a short drive, but it features horrible one-way systems, inevitable traffic around Assembly and/or Wellington, and then a THING which is like an unholy grafting together of a cloverleaf, a traffic circle, and a jughandle.)
COVID Status: Rapid test negative again, still coughing.
General status: Pissed off that I (probably) can't go to Advent Sunday, running club, or shopping.
I am giving up, and embracing my self-quarantining by having Thai food delivered. Hopefully some nice Vesuvian soup will help.

Nov. 24th, 2022 01:41 pmThe good news is: I guess my sense of smell is coming back.
The bad news is: I can tell because I an smell the stuffing that one of my neighbors is cooking downstairs, and so now I'm extra-sad about No Turkey For You.
I'm going to go for a walk now.
(ETA: I guess that means that pie might actually taste good?)

Sore throat. It's almost certainly allergies (with the 90 degree temperatures over the weekend, everything is blossoming); but just to be on the safe side, I'm gonna skip practice tonight, and haul my butt out to Everett again tomorrow for a PCR test.
