Likewise unsurprising...

What Kind of Reader Are You?
Your Result: Book Snob

You like to think you're one of the literati, but actually you're just a snob who can read. You read mostly for the social credit you can get out of it.

Perhaps even more accurate than it ought to be, in view of the fact that I had to answer the "which set of books have you read ALL of?" as though it were "which set of books have you STARTED all of?"
Though I don't read for the social credit. (WHAT social credit?)

The "If your favorite book were made into a movie" question actually raises some interesting issues, regardless of which book I chose as my favorite.
I suppose there's a DIM chance of The Hero and the Crown being made into a movie; ditto Harris's Seven Citadels. But there's no way Til We Have Faces is ever going to be filmed. Cherryh's Foreigner is probably not CAPABLE of being filmed.

ANYTHING is capable of being filmed in the age of CGI.

Off to take the quiz ...

re: Foreigner: It's not that any of the (admittedly numerous) effects required would be impossible to do; it's just that so much of the series is Bren debating stuff inside his head, and the movie would be completely flat--and mostly meaningless--unless you could convey that.

I mean, I suppose he could have long dialogs about his doubts and bewilderment with, I don't know, the specimen of taxidermy mounted on his bedroom wall, but I'm having a hard time imagining that working.

And if it can't be filmed as CGI, it can definitely be filmed as surrealist animation. I've seen some very adult, very DARK stories done that way.

Althought 'Til We Have Faces might be beyond even that.

I'm an Obsessive-Compulsive Bookworm:

"You're probably in the final stages of a Ph.D. or otherwise finding a way to make your living out of reading. You are one of the literati. Other people's grammatical mistakes make you insane."

Sigh... it's so true. (And political research and media relations ARE two ways to make my living out of reading. :))
