Peter and I went out to Portland Head Light this morning, and met up with my Dad. We spent much of the next several hours climbing on rocks-- that is; Peter and I did; Dad's finally starting to show his age in that regard, a circumstance even more disturbing, in its way, than the steady decay of my grandparents (aka, how I spent Thursday evening).

Oh well. Still fun.
Squigamunk and Sovay, I wished you guys had been along. Not just because it was a beautiful day, but because I lack your mad crab-catchin' skillz.

Tomorrow, I take Peter home, and then embark on my Insane Mountain quasi-Vision Quest Expedition!
(camp overnight in a parking lot, get up as soon as dawn..., climb my last 4000'er (via the insane route), go sit on a rock halfway up Lincoln and meditate. Or read Matins out of the Prayer Book.)

Squigamunk and Sovay, I wished you guys had been along. Not just because it was a beautiful day, but because I lack your mad crab-catchin' skillz.

I would have gladly loaned them for the occasion.

I sympathise--it's not comfortable seeing my parents beginning to show their age. Glad it was still fun.
