So I took my computer in to student computing the other day: it was refusing to start up, for no reason that we could discover (in accordance with Murphy's law, it worked fine as soon as the expert tried it!). Anyway, he suggested that the power cable might noot be compatible.
So does anyone know whether a Mac G3 iBook cable would eventually cause problems if used to power a G4 Powerbook?

Meantime I finallly had a meeting with someone who put me in touch with someone else who referred me to a third person who might actually know something about the use of database programs for historical projects. Which is good, 'cause trying to compile even a unified database of names from my ill-organized data file is proving a drag. (1200 names, from four databases, including trawling through the Notes sections of two of them...)

Subrealm: Yoghurt
I bought some milk last week which seems to have been too near the Sell-by date: it went bad almost immediately. But I was able to use some to make tasty pancakes. Then yesterday, I experimented with making it into yogurt. Rather to my surprise, this worked--but it still tastes kind of off. I think I will use it to make curry.
"Won't it keep going bad?" asked Grace.
But I think the Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. Bulgaricus and L. thermophilus in the starter probably kicked the ass of whichever of their relatives cause milk to go bad.

Update on dissertation progress:
Oh, 3126 entries in the master Names database,
3126 entries!
You go through your files, and add even more,
[????] entries in the database!
