The beers were mostly weird. [We kicked off with a nominal IPA that had cherries and chocolate and cinnamon and so wasn't really an IPA anymore. Other items included a slightly more normal IPA (though they're still kinda weird) and a Belgian-style trippel (sortof) that had been aged in wine barrels until it mostly tasted of wine barrels.] Apparently, though, that's sort of par for the course, since said owner and his friends devote these Wednesday sessions to trying beers and styles they haven't had before, and at this point they have sampled many, many beers, so...] I left shortly after the Trippel. I told the guy who'd hosted the running event that I felt that I should leave while I could still walk, which was somewhat true; but more important was "before I start pontificating TOO loudly about the superiority of English beer/attempt to LITERALLY pick up the random tiny Russian-American artist/ACTUALLY yell at the owner-dude to remind him to eat something." In case you couldn't tell, it was a weird evening generally.
