As I’ve mentioned, dinner last night…and tonight…was a bit complicated. Decided the following was the best way to describe ‘em: it’s in classical form (repeating lines, unnecessarily long)
My Mitwöhner are all slobs,
I got them Wohnung Kitchen Blues.
Yeah, my roommates are all slobs,
Got them Wohnung Kitchen Blues.
And I’m not sure this Wurst is co-oked,
And now this kitchen’s blown a fuse!
Yesterday I’d gone downtown / For a Stadtführung, or tour
(repeat)
Would’a liked to hit a restaurant, / But I didn’t, ‘cause I’m poor.
So I went up to the station, Which is on the Albertstraß’
Yes, I went to the bus station, Which is on the Albertstraß’
(And I’m running out of tickets: / ich hab’ gar kein’ Monatspass.)
But when I had reached the station / I realized I was in a fix
(repeat)
‘Cause it was now fünf Uhr dreißig / An’ German stores, they close at six!
I walked back into the Altstadt / And my God, my feet were sore,
(repeat)
And I finally found a bakery, And a quite nice grocery store.
I came back home by bus / (it was raining, no umbrella)
(repeat)
In the fridge was a ham sandwich…Wait, those don’t taste of Nutella!
My Mitwöhner are all slobs, / I got them Wohnung Kitchen Blues.
Yeah, my roommates are all slobs, / Got them Wohnung Kitchen Blues.
Had to wash their F-ing dishes, / And then the kitchen blew a fuse.
Then I went across the street, To the late night grocery store
Spoken: Wish I’d remembered about that earlier! That laate night grocery store,
An' I wanted to buy garlic…But not in bags of twenty-four!
Went back home, and I was lonely / Got no internet access
(repeat)
Couldn’t find the other Fulbrighters Spoken: and with no one to talk to I was getting’ pretty stressed.
Sat me down at my computer, / And I wrote this sad ol’ (or, Silly) song
(repeat)
Hope I can maybe post it / Übermorgen, not too long…
